North Korean Human Rights

This session will provide information on the situation of human rights in North Korea and the global human rights movement working to improve conditions on the ground. The session will explore the role of civil society and the significant activities and milestones achieved by our global movement. It will culminate in an overview of the current human rights situation in North Korea, providing attendees with a deep understanding of this pressing global issue.

Sean is the Executive Director of HanVoice. He has previously worked as a consultant at the UN Migration Agency and officer at the UN Major Group for Children and Youth in New York. Under Sean's leadership, HanVoice has convened global and regional human rights summits and has successfully lobbied for a special public policy under the Minister of Immigration, Refugees, Citizenship Canada in 2021. Today, HanVoice is facilitating a historic pilot program resettling North Korean refugees through private sponsorship. Sean has appeared as a subject-matter expert on over 200 news outlets around the world including The Associated Press, Washington Post, and CBC News. He received his bachelor's degree from the University of Toronto.
